Normal Business

  1. Chair's Remarks

It was noted that it is great to see so many swimmers attending competitions recently, both old and new members.

  1. Treasurer

Finances continue to look positive. Some members have suggested cancelling standing order payments due to being unable to book a swim. The club is looking at investing in a fourth session which will likely run at a loss but it should improve swimming enjoyment for all members of the club.

  1. Coaching

Coaching continues to go well but as attendance numbers rise lane management is becoming an issue. It was noted that Tuesday sessions are currently our busiest session. Attendance will be increased to 40 on a Tuesday and more effort will go into ensuring that lanes are managed effectively. Coaching will gradually become more traditional with sets being given and Edwin offering feedback to individual swimmers.

  1. Welfare

Jess has dealt with one welfare issue recently. An email has been sent to the member concerned. The club has offered supportive guidance and support where necessary. No response has been received so it is assumed that the email has been read.

  1. Membership

Club is aware that sessions are sometimes fully booked. Investigations to be carried out to establish whether a waiting list can be introduced.

Other Business

  1. Pre-pandemic Yorkshire trip

The pre-pandemic Yorkshire trip is to be cancelled – the committee is liaising with the organiser regarding returning deposits paid.

  1. Use of small pool at Moss Side

The committee agreed to a trial-run of booking the small pool at Moss Side after the main Tuesday session. This can be a coached session for the less competent swimmers which should help free up space in the pool during the main session.

  1. Minimum criteria for club membership

Website has been updated to include swimming ability requirements. The booking site is to be amended to give emphasis on the Saturday session being in a 50m pool.

  1. AOB

Flags/Competition Merchandise

The club will investigate purchasing merchandise to promote the club at competitions.

Minutes Approval

It was agreed that brief minutes from each committee meeting will be available on the website, with full copies available on request (subject to appropriate redaction by the Chair or Secretary).

Swim Camp

Swim Camp will be discussed at the next committee meeting.
