Normal Business

  1. Chair's Remarks

No specific comments to note.

  1. Treasurer

The bank balance remains stable. Year-to-date we are running at a small profit.

Costs will decrease whilst running a 25m session at MAC.

  1. Membership

Attendance remains stable. Attendance at the Wednesday session remains positive.

Tuesday all lanes’ swimmer numbers have fallen, particularly in the social and teaching lanes.

  1. Coaching

Tom and Edwin have been coaching together recently, which has been running well. There is a yearly coaching plan which will cycle through a rolling 6-week programme to include swimming development and endurance training. We are hopeful that Eirini will be able to return to coaching soon.

  1. Welfare

A potential welfare issue was discussed by the committee. No further action required at this stage. Full details held by the committee.

Other Business

  1. Sports swap

We will be taking part in the Northern Price sports swap on 15th August and we will ensure that this is promoted to encourage good attendance. Edwin, Tom and Kathryn will be providing coaching support and we would like some of our regular members to attend to help any new participants.

  1. Manchester Pride

Our position in the parade is confirmed, and we have requested to be with or near the Sharks. Further details will follow in due course.

  1. 25th Anniversary

There were extensive discussions regarding the 25th anniversary party, which will include a swimming gala at the MAC and a catered party that same evening at Victoria Baths. Tickets will be available for purchase soon.

  1. Abraham Moss

The club has committed to a regular booking on a Monday evening for the month of September as a trial run. If this proves positive, we will continue with this session. Further details will follow in due course.

  1. WhatsApp Group(s)

The club will be creating a ‘bulletin board’ style WhatsApp group so that we can circulate important information to our members – it is hoped that this will have a better reach than email. Only the committee will be able to send messages in this group.

  1. AOB

T-shirts

The committee is currently sourcing cotton T-shirts which should be available for purchase in time for Manchester Pride. Information will follow once final details have been obtained.

Pride picnic

It was agreed that we will be hosting a pride picnic again this year – same arrangements as last time. This will be promoted in due course.

General promotions of summer events

The committee will be promoting various events over the coming weeks – watch this space!

Swimwear Guidance

Better have guidelines in relation to acceptable swimwear and this will be included on our website.
